Topics on Social Issues TodayWith the President's speech on the recent shootings in Texas, I had to go back and review some of my articles on some of the most politically charged topics on social issues today. Of course, the first one I read was why the President's speech was so important. The first thing you will notice is that almost all of the articles that I have written in this series of articles deal with the same issues and are published on the same topic.So I thought I would take a few minutes to write a short article about each of these topics. I tried to follow up with other issues such as immigration and health care in some of the other articles but I did not feel it merited a full article. Nevertheless, you will be able to find that information elsewhere.One of the best social issues today is abortion. Abortion has been an issue of contention for many years. At one time, the issue came down to the state's rights while now it is becoming increasingly national in nature. Wh ile it may not be that controversial of an issue anymore, its impact on the country cannot be underestimated. There are a few topics on the web where you can find the latest news regarding abortion.Another issue that is quite controversial is when a physician decides to terminate a patient's pregnancy based on the physician's choice. Many people support this practice but many others oppose it. We see the media make it very clear on a daily basis. It is also worth noting that if a person is involved in an accident during which a pregnant woman's life was threatened, it is legal for the woman to terminate her pregnancy. This is a highly debated issue.Another topic that seems to be quite controversial is whether or not someone should be able to refuse to provide services to a gay or lesbian individual based on their own personal beliefs. Some believe this to be the right thing to do while others disagree. Regardless of your opinion on this issue, it does not seem to be something that a nyone wants to be spending time discussing in front of the family and friends.Finally, one of the more liberal views is the view that homosexual individuals should be allowed to use the restrooms that they want. It seems that when a person uses the restroom, they should be free to choose to use the washroom that they feel comfortable using. Therefore, it seems that this is the only issue worth talking about. Personally, I disagree with this view but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.These are just a few of the topics on political issues that I have written about. It is safe to say that in many ways we see a continuous flow of political debates on these topics in addition to issues of civil rights, sexuality, race, religion, and immigration.With all of the battles that are being fought today it is hard to decide who or what is worth fighting for. However, the fact remains that it is important to understand that everything that is being discussed is politically charged. The tr ick is to keep a positive attitude in order to keep the water out of your eyes and stay focused on the big picture.
